Because building a list is so vital and important to your Internet marketing efforts, I'm spending the next few blog posts writing out a strategy for you to use in building a list rather quickly. Since I'm making a rather detailed series of posts on this, I'd like to share this great infographic with you, to give you some inspiration. As you are going to find out, your email and customer list is where the real money lies, because it is an indication that you have either sold or gotten a response back from a prospect or customer that trusts you. When you begin to gather tools like auto-responders you will become acutely of companies like GetRsponse, Aweber and MailChimp, there tracking tools and how they can help you. But before you start playing around with these shinny new toys, you're going to need to set up a plan for your list building and execute it. Below is a great info-graphic from GetResponse that shows you how to set this all up. Enjoy!

There's always room to learn about marketing from an experience. This was a pleasant surprise for me because whenever I have a problem with a big corporation, it's usually not a very good experience.
Last night I had to call the company up because there was a
drive for their new printer that was preventing it from working properly. We had bought the printer from Samsung but it
was on sale and even though the printer wasn't that old, the drivers still
needed to be updated.
So I didn't realize the drivers had to be updated and I
decided to call them up.
However, in the
past, I've had to deal with companies that seem to love to make their customer
service a “hidden service”.
However...
You can have the greatest marketing plan in the world, but if you don’t
back it up with a good
product, and customer service, all that great marketing
will go to waste.
So, I was prepared for battle. I looked online expecting a long hard search
for Samsung’s customer service number. Within the first 4 or 5 keystrokes,
there was Samsung’s customer service number in big, bold lettering staring me
in the face on Google results page for the name "Samsung".
I called and went through a menu that took me exactly to the
service department I needed to talk to.
I was very surprised that I didn't have to listen to elevator music for
30 minutes, like I usually do with tech departments.
A Really Pleasant Surprise!
What I think Miss Judy looked like.
The initial screen-er
profusely apologized for the problems I was experiencing, and he took some of
my information.
Before I knew it, I was on the phone with a nice lady named
Judy. Judy profusely apologized about 5
times for the problems I was experiencing and she reassured me that we would
have them fixed in no time.
After giving her some
more information, she remotely accessed my computer and fixed the problems
herself, without my having to touch the computer at all. The only thing that took some time was she
downloaded a batch of drivers into my computer.
Since I live in out in the country, my Internet connection
isn't too fast, so those downloads took a little bit of time.
By the time Miss Judy was finished, the printer worked
better than before.
Once again, she apologized for the problems I was
experiencing and asked me if there was anything else she could do for me.
I told her that she was wonderful and that Samsung was my
new pal.
I now own a new Samsung tablet.
In my humble opinion this is marketing done right. I can't count the times I've tried to call a company or tried to communicate a problem I'm having with a product only to find that the contact information has been deeply hidden inside of a sealed vault.
Man, that is horrible marketing.
There is absolutely NOTHING that gets my blood boiling red hot than having to deal with trying to find a customer service number and then once it's found, having to deal with being put on hold while listening to elevator music.
So Thanks so much Samsung for the wonderful experience you are truly going to emerge as a leader in your market!

"When it Comes to High-Response Copy - I've Got Your Back!"
Usually whenever you read anything about Internet marketing
you hear about the latest whiz-bang method that someone claims to have thought
up.
Of course, they’ll tell you that it
is a SECRET way to make money online, but in reality there is no new thing
under the sun.
Trust me on this.
Now, having said that, I’d like to point out that there are
people on the Internet that you should listen to because their information is
valuable. They’ve been around the block
quite a bit and know what they are talking about. Their books and courses are pretty good and I
think if you want to pay $200 + to buy one…Go for it!
You’ll probably learn a lot more from those courses than if you went to college
for the “4 year vacation” and you’ll have spent quite a bit less.
The Dirt Cheap Method
of Learning
I once read an article by Gary “The Prince of Print” Halbert
wherein he was talking about the lean years of his life; he didn't have a lot
of money and he was dealing with an overbearing wife.
However, Monsieur Halbert was a smart man, and he knew that
he was living in the richest country in the world. He knew that he could learn
a crap-load about marketing if he read a lot of books on the subject. So, off he went to the public library where
he read every book on marketing he could get his hands on.
Yeah, I love it…The DIRT CHEAP method of learning!
He didn’t need to pay someone $5000 to learn how to make
money marketing, he just needed the information available and he took it from
there.
Not only can you learn from books in the library, but now we
have the Internet as well. Amazon, sells
tons of books on just about any kind of marketing you can imagine, and you can
get the books used for a lark.
TIP! Not only can you
find used books in online stores like Amazon, but you can also get FREE reports
and eBooks by many of the top-o-the-line gurus for the mere cost of your email
address.
Your Marketing Can Be
Dirt Cheap Too!
While it would be bone-dead stupid for me to tell you that
you’ll put zero dollars into your marketing, you can still market your business
as cheaply as you can and still have an effective way of reaching out to
potential prospects and customers.
One of the cheapest ways to do this is by building a
community. It takes work but it’s not as
hard as
you think, either. The fastest and easiest way to do this by simply
being nice and helpful.
When I say “being nice” I mean it.
I was on a forum the other day and I made a comment about
how people don’t even say thanks by pushing a simple button on the forum that
says “Thanks” on it. (You can read my
rant that started a group of people talking here: Your Attitude Sucks – That’sWhy You’re in Neutral!
The problem I have with a lot of Internet Marketers, (especially
younger ones) is that they think if they’re snarky, rude and use a bunch of
foul language they’ll get somewhere.
BIG MISTAKE. This is
where I draw the line and tell whoever it is that I’m not even going to listen
to them anymore. Not only that, I’m
NEVER going to recommend their business to anyone, ever. I can’t tell you the number of times that I've
not recommended someone based on their attitude and language.
Especially Internet marketing gurus that think it’s cool to
do so. Apparently, they think they’re so
rich, powerful and invincible that they’re too big to fail.
Man, is that a stupid way to act.
About 2 years ago there was a guy that had a way of
marketing on Facebook that was kind of popular so I went on YouTube to see if
he had a training video on there for free.
Sure enough he was on there, and it was a video of a seminar
of his that he had recorded live in front of a large audience.
About 30 or so seconds into his dissertation he starts
spewing out the “F” word like it was a badge of courage. And the real sign of immaturity was that he
laughed at himself every time he said it.
Very impressive.
And to think there were ladies in the audience and had to
listen to that rubbish.
Now riddle me this…
If a person like that runs their filthy mouth in front of an
audience, especially where women are present, do you really believe that he’s
doing ANYTHING in your best
interest? Really???
It’s been my experience that people like that look at you
like a number with a monetary symbol in front of it and that’s all.
Why you should never
do this…
But, you know what?
Let them be that way. Because
entrepreneurs that really care about the people they deal with are RARE! People that respect others, follow up and
help people sometimes without any gain in life are very hard to find these
days.
And if you treat others with respect and dignity and call on
their higher qualities rather than their basest instincts, then you’ll have
gained a loyal following of people that know you really care.
Years ago, I saw a documentary about this guy who unclogged
sewage lines for people. He really had
his business down to a science and really made a huge difference in his
community.
The thing that drew my
attention the most to this guy was he had actually built a mini- shower in the
back of his van. He also had a whole row of uniforms hanging up in his van
that he would change after almost every appointment.
“I don’t want to smell like a rat when I go to somebody’s
house.” He grinned.
He worked in a rundown part of a large city and was booked
solid. Everyone knew and loved this guy.
The reason? He was always super nice, extremely professional
and his prices were very fair. I
remember one older lady that had no husband, and was obviously broke crying
because the man did the work for free.
He looked at where she was living and saw that the services were going
to break what little she had left.
“Now, Ma’am please don’t tell all your friends I did this
for free OK? They’ll be calling me off
the hook and I can’t afford to help everyone for free. OK? I
just had to do it because you’d be up to your knees in sewage.”
“Thank you…Thank you!
The woman cried, tears running down her cheeks.”
Pushing his hat back and scratching his forehead he smiled
again.
“She’ll tell everybody.”
However, this man was one of the most successful people in
the business. He was making money hand
over fist and booked solid BECAUSE
EVERYONE KNEW HE REALLY CARED.
It’s like the Joker said in that Batman movie,
“It’s not about the money…It’s about sending a message….”
But hey, even if you don’t want to be Mother Teresa, think
of how little he has to spend on advertising and marketing.
I’m tellin’ ya what Forrest…All
the shrimp you can eat! Dirt Cheap!
Even if he didn't want the
attention, he’d get it and the people he helped won’t ever forget what he did
for them.
Here's a company that really gets it. Watch this video:
So, random acts of being nice and
helping folks can be beneficial to your business. If you can’t afford to give something away,
give away your expert opinion or advice because it costs virtually nothing to
give those away.
Last week I conducted an experiment. I ran an ad online asking for Internet
marketers to send me an examples of dirt cheap marketing that they've used to
make their first dollars online. (I ran
a real good deal on the ad, so I didn't pay much there and I didn't want to pay
a bunch to get their responses. Ha-ha!
Cheap! Cheap! )
I also posed a question on a popular marketing forum asking
folks what their methods were there as well.
I got quite a few responses there too.
So, this week I’m going to post those responses here for you
to read.
The Second Part of My
Experiment Involves You!
Not only am I going to post the responses that I received,
but I’m also going to post any good ideas that my reading audience sends me as
well. You can either send it to me here:
elmo033057@gmail.com and I’ll post
it to my blog with your signature and web address on it, or I’ll post it
into the comment section of my blog.
Either way works for me!
The Rules:
Please don’t post duplicate content. It will get trashed immediately.
No foul language.
We are here to lift each other up as entrepreneurs, not
trash each other. If you disagree on a

I will not allow affiliate links. If you have an example of a product or

I won’t mind promoting your business if your post has a
logical point or example with it. Readers can easily tell if you are just
promoting your junk instead of sharing valuable information with them.

Dirt Cheap Method #1
-Using Your Web Savvy Brain to Sell an eBook Online
I figured since I actually went through the process myself, I'd be the first to tell you exactly how I made my first money online. I invested $30.00 on an eBook which was titled, "How to write and Sell and eBook in 30 Days". I bought the book and without thinking too much about what niche to dive into, I started writing. I actually got the book written in about 2 weeks and churned out about 75 pages of material. I thought someone...anyone would want to read it and that I'd make some money on it. I knew enough to figure that I would probably not make a huge sum of money from writing the book, but I was eager to set it up and get the ball rolling. In the early 1990's credit card processing was kind of expensive. You had to get an online credit card service if you wanted to sell something, even an eBook. PayPal had just started to really roll, but it did not have half of the cheap merchant services it has today. I finally found a very inexpensive solution from a company called 2Checkout. 2Checkout is a company that would let you set up any product that you wanted to sell, and it would act as a credit card processor for a percentage of the sale. (Currently, they will charge you 2.5% for processing.) They would let you set up your products, give you the code to drop into your page and then process your order for you. With very few glitches, it worked like a charm.
How I Faced Failure and Turned It Around... However, nobody wanted to read my book on Internet marketing, especially since I was a Newb. So my first effort resulted in selling nothing. But, hey, you'll learn your best and biggest lessons from failure. Determined to still make money from Internet marketing thing, I decided to try again. This time I wanted to find a niche that was narrow and that a group of people felt passionate about. At the time I was trying my hand at this, I was a band director at a military academy and I was working with a bagpiping team. The kids that I was working with at the time, were really into the whole Celtic/Bagpiping hobby, and I had a hard time keeping up with them because I had no education in the realm of bag pipes. One Friday, when I was getting ready to go home from work, I noticed one of the bag piping team members getting into a car with his Celtic gear on. (Yep, the team wore kilts.) When I asked him why he was wearing his outfit, he told me something I had no knowledge of. He was making all sorts of money playing bagpipes for different events. Weddings, funerals, retirement parties, police events, etc. And the money he was making was pretty good. He'd make $200.00 at any given event, and he was only required to play for small segments of the events. So, that was thew seed of an idea for my second eBook, "How to Make Money With Your Bagpipes" and even though it didn't make me rich, I still made thousands from it., Heck, it was pretty easy to market, when I look back on it. Since I was a band director at a military academy, it was very easy to network with bagpipers and find out where they all hung out at online. I also knew who the best bagpipe teachers were and I could easily contact them and get them to spread the word for me. I guess that's why identifying a focused niche is very important.
So, that was the first time I made money online and I've been hooked ever since. Now it's your turn. What was the way you made your first money using Internet marketing? Once again, you can post your story in the comment section or send it on to me at: elmo033057@gmail.com I look forward to hearing from you!

"When it Comes to High-Response Copy - I've Got Your Back!"
This is a
list building venue that isn't used by many marketers because usually, it requires planning, knowledge and a little bit of a technical set up.This is usually enough to put most people
off.Just like video marketing, webinars
require a little knowledge of equipment and software and it does take a little
time to learn.
However, this shouldn't in any way stop someone from using these tools in marketing. As a matter of fact, the benefits of using
video and webinars should really encourage people to use them. For one thing, they’ll help you get to the
top of the search engines much faster.
If you’ve ever made a video and posted it, you’ll be stunned at how quickly
it can rise through all of the Internet clutter.
The same
thing could be said for audio files from webinars. The reason why videos and audio seem to rank
faster, is because there is less competition.
People feel too intimidated to make them, so therefore there’s much less
competition.
There are
other bennies that many people don’t think about too. For one thing, if you are able to have a well
done audio or video, it makes people look at you like an authority in your
niche. The other thing, these items can
have incoming or outgoing links and can be shared through email and other
online file sharing systems.
So, ignoring
these methods of marketing online is not too swift.
Basics of a Webinar
If you are
going to create your own webinar, you should get a webinar hosting
account. These are typically
inexpensive, but well worth the money you put into them. A good hosting system will give you a fast
and easy way to invite people to your event and sign up, by allowing you to
send out an email inviting people.
You can
easily find good companies to handle this for you.
For example, there’s an online service called
GoToMeeting that has a lot of great features on it. You can set up a really pleasing interface
for people that you've invited to the event, and you can even share pictures
and streaming with them.
The thing I like about this service is that it reminds me of MailChimp. You don’t pay anything unless you have a
certain number of people. In the case of
AnyMeeting, it’s free up to 200 people.
I like that
idea, because you all know that my whole marketing ideal is to do everything as
dirt cheap as you can, especially if you are trying to start your venture. I’m sorry, that’s just the way I am.
I figure once
you’ve hit the same financial status as that guy that runs Virgin Records or
that other guy that invented Facebook, THEN you can spend Mega-Bucks on
advertising.
But until then,
you’ll want to save some money in your marketing efforts. Just sayin’!
Make Sure You Tell Your Audience All about It
Before the
webinar, make sure that you’ve really spread the word about the webinar. Use Facebook, Twitter, Google + and any other
social media site that you can. Also,
make sure that your entire email list knows about it as well.
TIP! Go offline
too! Get some nice event note cards
produced and send them to all of the clients and customers on your mailing
list. Make it like a real nice
invitation that is handsomely made. You
can do this dirt cheap with a printer and some clip art or go on a site like
Fiverr and hire someone inexpensively.
Considering
all of the effort you’re putting into something like this, you may want to call
people that you know as well.
For
example, if you do consulting it would be pretty beneficial for you to call
them and invite them to your event.
Even if they
don’t join you for the webinar, they will be happy to know that you are still
thinking of them and that you value them enough to invite them.
Make Sure You Aren't BORING
I know this
is kind of common sense, but try to make your webinar interesting. If you and your guest are not enthusiastic
about what you do, then it will come off that way.
Also it would
be a good idea to organize and write down your questions before the
seminar. Give your guest a copy of the
questions so he or she can think about a response.
Off the cuff comments
can be OK as they arise. You do want to
have a logical structure to your webinar, but try to be natural too. If a question you didn't happen to think
about rears its head, go ahead and ask it.
It will sound natural and spontaneous because it is.

"When it Comes to High-Response Copy - I've Got Your
Back!"
In my last post I gave you 5 dirt-cheap ways to get traffic
to come to your site. If you’re
interested, the link to that article is here: Cheap Marketing Methods
Now, I have another 5 ways you can promote your website that
are very cheap. However, I’d once again
like to point out that these methods do require labor or, at the very least
outsourcing. 5 More Ways To Promote Your Website for Free
Reciprocal Links and
Banners - It never hurts to send your readers and visitors to high quality
websites. The emphasis needs to be
stressed on quality because you want to become a known and respected
source of information. If people come to
your site expecting excellence and you refer them to a shabby website that has
poorly written information, their stink will probably rub off on you.
Another thing that’s important to consider is that you don’t
want to trade links very much.
The other
day, I got a request from someone that wanted to trade links with me. His site was an insurance review site which
was totally outside my niche. Also, I noticed
that his site was an Adsense site wherein his site was merely written to
generate clicks for Adsense revenue.
Upon further inspection, I noticed that he had loads of what appeared to
be outsourced articles.
Donating Your
Services to Charity – If you know of a business or charity that can use
your products or services, you can donate your help to them. Not only will you help others in need but
they may also point your business out to others.
My personal take is to help others in need without expecting
anything in return. That’s just the way
I am. I once got an email from a band
director that had a trombone playing student that had cancer. I was operating a music apparel business
online and I wound up making a beautiful embroidered jacket for the kid. I didn't make a dime or any notoriety for
doing it, but it sure did feel good to make that student happy.
Put Your Web Address
Everywhere – You can place your website’s URL on your car, shirts, business
cards, letterhead, as well as any promotional items that you give out for your
business. Also, make sure that you use
it in your email signature, eBooks that you’ve written and any communications
you use. If you have a bricks and mortar business, make sure that you put your
URL on the door of your business, on your menus, receipts, and any other item
you use that has your branding on it.
Use Free Classified
Ads – There are literally hundreds of free classified ad sites on the
Internet. Many of them service specific
countries, so you’ll have to take a close look at them to see what country or
area they service. The downside of using
free online ads is there are time limits on how long your ad will run. You’ll have to go back and check to see if
your ad is still running.
Not only that, but there are a lot of people “phishing” on
them. Phishing is an online searching
activity where nefarious people look around on sites where you would place your
contact information, and then call you and try to sell you something. They will also collect your email address and
spam you like crazy.
Here is a brief list of the best free classified sites to use:
Offer a Free Course on
Your Website – This requires some effort and time, but if your visitors can
get some excellent training, whether it’s audio, video or even a series of
lessons, then you can post them for free on your website.
Years ago, I created an extensive Photoshop course that you
can still access today as well as a series on how to make your own blog using
Blogger. It was well received by people
that used it. So put your thinking cap
on and think about a video course that you can come up with that is related to
your business. Not only will people come
to your site looking for free information, but you can also embed your URL into
your videos on YouTube to get even more traffic to your site.

If you are going to use online newsletters to stay in touch
with your clients, you’ll need to acquire the proper tools to run an online
newsletter. In a previous section, we looked at two companies that were dirt
cheap to start out with and you can read that information here: Newsletters That Will Make Your Business Magnetic to Customers
A List of
Autoresponder / Email / Newsletter Services
Below is a reference
list of some of the best email and newsletter businesses on the Internet. Rather than listing benefits and prices to
you, I’m just going to list them so you can go to their actual sites and check
them out.
The reason why I’m not going to review each one of these is because
the pricing and features change so often that by the time this is written, one
of them will have already changed their information.
Many of these online companies offer two versions of
newsletters and email that you can send: HTML and a text version. I personally like the text version for a
number of reasons. For one thing, if one
of the persons I am sending my
HTML Newsletters can look
very professional in color
newsletters to have a slower method of receiving
their email, HTML will take more time.
With text, you aren’t relying on faster broadband speeds because text
has no colors, borders, pictures, etc.
HTML has all of that stuff, plus the ability to embed
pictures, video and use templates that look like websites. In my opinion, HTML takes longer to
format. You have to make sure your text
is lined up right as well as your pictures and other elements that are on the
newsletter.
All you have to worry about with text, is that you format it
a little to brand the name of your business on it. However, usually that is a onetime set up.
Offline Newsletters
If you are creating an offline newsletter, use Microsoft
Word or Microsoft Publisher. Both of
these pieces of software require some time to learn, but almost everyone knows
how to use Word, but if you don’t know how to create a cool looking newsletter
with it, there are tons of online tutorials that’ll show you.
TIP: If you don’t want to do all of the formatting involved
in producing a cool looking. newsletter, hire someone. If you’ve already written the material, and
want someone to turn it into a cool looking format that’s ready to print, you
can always find someone on Fiverr to do that for you.
Fiverr is a site that only allows you to charge or pay $5.00
per job./ So you can easily get someone
on there to format your material into a great looking newsletter for a mere $5.00! Such a deal.
Here is Fiverr’s link: Five Dollar Gigs
If that doesn’t appeal to you, you can always go to an
outsourcing site and hire someone for more money, but then again, that wouldn’t
be the Dirt-Cheap method I’m so fond of.
People that
use newsletters will tell you that it is one of the most powerful ways to stay
in touch with their clients and customers.
Whether you have an Internet based business or a regular bricks and
mortar company, the newsletter can act as a viral vessel that can get your
message into the hands of the people you already do business with.
There are two
flavors of newsletters: One sent through your email service and the other
through the regular postal service and into the mail box of your
subscribers.
Snail Mail VS Email – Which is Better?
As usual,
some people will tell you that the email version is better than the snail
mail
version, and vice versa. In my humble opinion, they both have their pros and
cons.
Email
newsletters are obviously cheaper and easier to send. You don’t need to spend money on postage
stamps or spend gas going down to the local post office to drop them in the
mail. (Unless you can hand them to your
postal carrier, and that depends on how many you have to give him or her.)
However, if
you are going to use the email route, you’ll need to get a monthly subscription
to an email service. Email services of
this nature are like any other business, so you should look around on the
Internet to see which one you can afford.
Most of the
good services I've seen online will run you in the $30.00 a month area. If you add up $30.00 a month times 12 months
you’ll get $360 a year. So much for it
being as cheap as you probably thought.
TIP: Don’t get
an expensive auto-responder subscription right off the bat. It takes time to
build a list and there are plenty of cheap to almost free email/auto-responder programs
that will get you started. You don’t
want to start your business with all kinds of money going out the door.
In the past I've used two businesses, one was called “SendFree” and the other is “MailChimp”. Both of those businesses will allow you to
use their services for free up to a certain limited number of email. When I last checked, MailChimp let you send up to 1000 email addresses at once. So, you
are better of getting started with a service like this.
One Major Advantage of Snail Mail
Newsletters
One of the
big advantages of snail mail is that the people that you are sending your
newsletter to will actually have it in their hands. With email newsletters, you’ll have to
compete with all of the other email and newsletters sent electronically. One click and you’re gone.
However, if
you make your snail mail newsletter interesting and something your target
audience looks forward to, then you’ll have a much bigger chance of them actually
looking at it. Not only that, physical newsletters can be shared off line as
well. You can also use a physical newsletter like a
business card and hand it out to potential clients.
The Ultimate Newsletter Tactic
What’s better
than sending a newsletter by email electronically or by snail mail? BOTH! If
you so desire, you can send out your email using both methods, because there’s
no law against it. You can use the exact
same message in both venues and you’ll have an even bigger chance of getting your
message in front of your audience.
TIP: Use the material that
you would normally use in your offline newsletter in your online
newsletter! Actually, if you have a
Blog, you can use the material in your blog for your online and offline newsletter!
Wow! Now you’re a three-way winner!
But Wait, There’s More!
If you write
a blog regularly, you can not only use that material for your newsletters but
you can compile all that information and use it to make an eBook too. Now you’re
a four-way winner! But seriously, you
can easily leverage writing and information in this manner if you’re
smart.
When you do
crank up your newsletter machine, there are two or three things to
consider. First, you need to think about
whether or not your newsletter will be something that your readers will want to
look at. If you’re sending out
newsletters and people aren't reading them, it may be a waste of time. If your readers aren't excited to get your
newsletter and eager to share it with others, it isn't worth writing and
sending out.
Another thing
to think about is whether or not it’s profiting you to put the time and money
into it. If you aren't getting more
clients, prospects, or sales from it, chances are you are wasting your time.
The last
thing you might want to consider before you even start a newsletter is to ASK
or SURVEY your target audience on what they are interested in reading about.
Come right out and ask them what they’d like to read about in your industry and
how it would help them.
This way, you’ll
know for sure you are hitting subjects worthy of your time and your newsletter
will have a much bigger chance of getting read.

Over the last
week, we’ve explored strategies and tactics for using Facebook as a traffic
generator for your business. These
strategies will get you started as quick as possible, and to make sure you get
off on the right foot with Facebook, here are the links to those posts:
Getting People to Leave Facebook and
Come to Your Website
Today we are
going to look at 3 ways to easily get people to come to your blog or website. Up till now we’ve been mostly talking about
what to do with people when they get to your site.
Now I’m going
to show you what you should do on Facebook itself to motivate your crowd to
move in a direction that is conducive to your business. We’ve already talked about what you should be
posting, now we’re going to look at how you should post. (If you don’t know what to post, please look
at the video I’ve posted: HERE)
Tip #1 Post Web Address of Post or Web
Page into Facebook
The primary
way I use Facebook to promote my site is by posting a blurb about what I wrote
on my blog for the day. I pretty much
write 500 to 1000 word articles as frequently as I can. When I do this, I go to Facebook and on my
business page, I’ll post a brief message about the subject I’m writing about as
an intro. Then, I paste the URL of the
blog post into the message field.
Automatically,
a picture will appear from the blog post itself as well as the title and link
to it. I also do this on Google + as well and here is what it looks like
right after you paste the URL into the field:
Facebook and
Google + are almost exactly alike in this nature.
If your blog post or landing page does not
have a picture on it, you can always add a picture directly from your
computer. As always, make sure that it
is relevant to your post.
Tip #2 When Posting - Use a Dynamic
Headline
This is a
tactic where learning how to write a little advertising copy might help. You want to have headlines on your posts that
are relevant yet DYNAMIC! The best way
to learn these is to start going to well written squeeze pages and make copies
of the headlines that impress you the most. Then, keep them in a file so you
can use them as a basis of a headline later.
For Example:
“My $10 Million Dollar Discovery!”
That was a
title of a book by Internet marketing specialist Yanik Silver.
You could
easily create a headline for your post that read: “My $5 Thousand Dollar Discovery”, or “My Massive Cash-Flow Discovery” or even “My Amazing Facebook Marketing Discovery!”
Please bear
in mind that when you are collecting these ideas to not use the exact same
words, but learn from them and draw ideas from them.
If you are
going to stay in the Internet marketing arena for a while, then you’ll need to
keep a swipe file and learn as much as you can about writing copy. You may not have any desire to be a
copywriter yourself, but you need to at least understand it when you hire
someone to write copy for you.
Another thing
to keep in mind is that you need to make sure that you are not misrepresenting
the content you are directing them to.
If you do that prospects will automatically see you as a waste of
time. You can still make the lead – in exciting
and on-topic at the same time. Here's a good video that'll give you a few pointers on writing a good headline.
Tip #3 Make Sure You Post at the Right
Time
Using Facebook
and other social media sites is an awful lot like fishing. My dad was an incredible fisherman. A natural,
actually. He always told me the best fishing hours were from 5:00 AM and 8:00AM
and then later on in the day from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. He almost always brought
a load of fish home to clean.
Facebook is almost
the same way. When people get up first
thing in the morning, they are looking for something to read and when they
start getting home from work they are on usually.
So if you can
get yourself on just before those peak hours, you’ll get the most eyes on your
postings.
